Kerala parotta with beef is one of the most loved dishes by every Keralite who eats meat.
If you like beef, I am sure you will enjoy this beef roast. Beef will be cooked in a pressure cooker with shallots, coconut flakes and spices. Then roasted in onions and more spices. Adding coconut oil and curry leaves with give it the nadan (Kerala) touch.
This beef roast will go well with the famous Kerala parotta and with chappathi and rice.

How to make Beef Roast
What you’ll need
Beef – 1 kg
Coconut Flakes – 75 gm
Shallots (sliced) – 200 gm
Garlic (julienned) – 2 tbsp
Ginger (julienned) – 2 tbsp
Garlic (paste/crushed) – 1 tbsp
Ginger (paste/crushed) – 1 tbsp
Onion (sliced) – 3
Green Chilli (slitted) – 1
Black Pepper (crushed/powder) – 2 1/4 tsp
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder – 1 1/2 tsp
Kashmiri Chilli Powder – 2 1/4 tsp
Meat Masala – 3 tsp
Salt – 1 3/4 tsp
Coconut Oil – 5 3/4 tbsp
Lime Juice – 1 tsp

How to cook it
- To cook the beef, place a pressure cooker on the stove and add 2 tbsp of coconut oil.
- Add 200 gm of sliced shallots, 1 slitted green chilli, curry leaves and mix.
- Add 1 tbsp of ginger paste and 1 tbsp of garlic paste and mix.
- Add 75 gm of coconut flakes and mix.
- Add 1 1/4 tsp of salt, 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder, 3/4 tsp of coriander powder, 1 1/2 tsp of meat masala, 1 1/4 tsp of kashmiri chilli powder and mix.
- Add the diced and cleaned beef pieces and mix. Saute it for 2 minutes.
- After 2 minutes, close and cook till 4 whistles.
- After 4th whistle, take it off from the stove.
- Once the cooker is depressurized, check if the beef is cooked well. Place it back on the stove and let the stock reduce to half.
- Once the beef stock is reduced and thick, take it off from the stove.
- Add 3 1/4 tbsp of coconut oil into a pan.
- Add curry leaves.
- Add 3 sliced onion, 2 tbsp of julienned ginger, 2 tbsp of julienned garlic and mix.
- Add 1/2 tsp of salt and mix.
- Close and cook for 1 minute.
- After 1 minute, open and saute it well.
- Once it is sauteed well, add 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder, 3/4 tsp of coriander powder, 1 1/2 tsp of meat masala, 1 tsp of kashmiri chilli powder and mix.
- Add the cooked beef and mix.
- Let it roast on a low-medium flame/temperature.
- Add 2 1/4 tsp of black pepper powder, curry leaves, 1/2 tbsp of coconut oil and mix.
- Add few more curry leaves and 1 tsp of lime juice and mix.
- Beef roast is ready, take it off from the stove and serve.
