Even though you may have made chicken masala in different ways, I doubt if you have made it this way. I had It for the first time when my father-in-law made it at home. It is one of his special dish and he used to make it often. Everyone in our family love it hope you will like it too.
For this chicken masala, we fry the chicken and then shred it. Let me show you how you can make this special chicken masala.

How to make Shredded Chicken Masala
Ingredients
Chicken – 300 gm
Onion (sliced) – 4
Tomato – 2
Ginger & Garlic Paste – 2 1/2 tsp
Green Chilly (slitted) – 3
Curry Leaves
Lime Juice – 2 1/2 tsp
Coriander Leaves
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
Coriander Powder – 1 tsp
Chicken Masala – 2 1/4 tsp
Kashmiri Chilly Powder – 2 3/4 tsp
Salt – 2 1/4 tsp
Oil
Directions
- To marinate the chicken add 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp of coriander powder, 1 tsp of chicken masala, 1 1/2 tsp of kashmiri chilly powder, 1 tsp of salt, 1 1/2 tsp of ginger&garlic paste, roughly chopped curry leaves, 1 1/2 tsp of lime juice, 1 tbsp of oil and mix it well.
- Close and keep it aside for minimum 30 minutes.
- Fry the marinated chicken in hot oil.
- Flip the chicken in between.
- Once chicken is fried, take it out from oil.
- Fry the rest of the marinated chicken.
- Once the fried chicken cools down, shred the chicken as shown.
- To make masala for the chicken add 5 tbsp of oil, which we used to fry the chicken, in a hot pan. The same oil will have the flavours of the chicken in it. You can use fresh oil if you want.
- Once the oil is hot, add sliced onion and saute it.
- Add curry leaves, 3 slitted green chilly, 1 1/2 tsp of ginger&garlic paste and mix it.
- Add 1 1/4 tsp of salt mix it. Close and cook for almost 1 minute.
- After 1 minute, open and mix it.
- Once onion is sauteed well, add 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp of coriander powder, 1 1/4 tsp of chicken masala, 1 1/4 tsp of kashmiri chilly powder and mix.
- Add the shredded chicken and mix. Close and cook on a medium flame/temperature for 3 minutes.
- After 3 mins open it and mix well.
- Add chopped coriander leaves.
- Add 2 tomatoes, sliced, as shown. Close and cook for 2 minutes.
- After 2 minutes, add 1 tsp of lime juice. Close and take it off from the stove.
- After 5 minutes, mix everything well and add coriander leaves before serving.
- Shredded chicken masala is ready to serve.
